Chief Rotimi Akeredolu has emerged the APC candidate for the November 26 Ondo State governorship election.
Akeredolu, 60, polled 669 votes to defeat 23 other aspirants in the keenly contested poll.
There were 2,774 accredited delegates who partook in the voting exercise. Dr Segun Abraham, the aspirant endorsed by former Lagos governor and APC national leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerged second with a total number of 635 votes.
Akeredolu contested under the platform of the APC in 2012 but lost out in the elections to incumbent governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko.
Widely regarded as a formidable politician, Akeredolu won the election without the backing of the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
